Hi Everybody,
Taylor here, RN and Chief Customer Happiness Officer at Joe & Bella. Today, I'm answering some of your most frequently asked questions about adaptive clothing and medical needs.
Q: "Can I wear magnetic closures with my pacemaker?”
A: Great question! While our magnetic closures are designed to be not only easy and quick to use, they’re also gentle. Even so, we always recommend you consult with your doctor first.
Q: "Which pants work best with medical devices like catheters and ostomy bags?"
A: For ostomy care, both our CareZips® and Side-Zip pants work well, depending on your waistband preference. Side-Zip pants have a flat front elastic waistband, while CareZips® feature a full elastic waistband. Both styles feature convenient side zippers for easy access. For catheters, our CareZips® pants with their innovative three-zipper design provide comprehensive access for care needs.
Q: "Which Joe & Bella pants are best for prosthetic wear?"
A: Our Side-Zip pants are ideal for prosthetic users because of their versatile dual-direction zippers – you can unzip from the waist down or ankle up, whichever works best for you. This flexibility, combined with full-length access on both sides, makes dressing easier whether seated or standing. Many customers appreciate being able to partially unzip just where needed for prosthetic adjustment or care.
Q: "I have arthritis and struggle with zippers. Any suggestions?"
A: You're not alone! For those with arthritis or tremors, we recommend our magnetic closure options over zippers. Our magnetic-button shirts and cardigans are particularly popular because they require minimal hand dexterity.
Q: "What shirts and blouses are best for assisted dressers?"
A: As both a nurse and someone who's helped countless people dress, I love sharing what I've learned about making dressing easier and more dignified for everyone involved.
Our Men's Everyday Polo and Women's Everyday Long-Sleeve Top are absolute game-changers for assisted dressing. They open completely at the side seams (think of a cozy hospital gown, but so much more stylish!), making the process comfortable for both the wearer and their care partner. (And, by the way, both are priced for a clearance sale now, as we’re getting ready to bring in new Spring items.
So, if you’re interested in these, please don’t wait, as there are only a few left.)But here's a lovely discovery many of our customers have made: all of our adaptive clothing – even pieces designed for independent dressing – can make assisted dressing so much easier! Those magnetic closures and smart zippers? They're like having an extra set of hands, making the whole process quicker and gentler for everyone.
I'd love to hear from you! Have a question about dressing solutions or adaptive wear? Send me a note at hello@joeandbella.com – I personally read every email and would be delighted to help. Your question might even help others in our next Q&A (plus, you'll be entered in our monthly gift card drawing!).
